  1. Here's my take on what to not to do at least. Forget Peggy's cove - it's not all it's hyped up to be - just a bunch of big big rocks and a tiny little lighthouse. All those historic cemeteries - boring.

Some things are a more interesting  is the Habour front with it's restaurants and pubs - go for ice cream at Cow's. Take a Tall Ship cruise - there's tons of cruises leaving from there all day long.

    - Take in Yuk Yuk's in the Westin Hotel

    - Take a tour of some of the breweries like  Alexander Keith's on Lower Water St. - has live entertainment too

    - Grafton Street Dinner Theater

    - Check out the Sports Hall of Fame for sports junkies

    - Hang out of the patio at Café Chianti on South St.

    - Hit Farmer's Market on Sat mornings and sample the food

    -  For for Jazz on Thurs. nights to Stayner's on George St.

    - Scotia Speedworld for auto racing

    - Maxwell's Plum English Pub with 60 Beers on tap - downtown

    - Hatfield Farms Cowboy Adventures in nearby Hammond Plains

    -  The Beer Market at the Historic Properties at the Habour front DJ on weekends

    - Have lunch at Bubbles (from Trailer Park Boys)

    - there's always a rally, protest or some group on the Library grounds for you to check out - Spring Garden Rd - right Downtown

    - check out Point Pleasant Park - straight down South Park St to the gates - turn left towards the ocean. Watch how many people come and feed the fedal cats (they're pretty friendly and fat) because they feel sorry for them. Walk through the trails of this beautiful park. The police come and tell you the park is closing and makes sure everyone is out each evening.

    - If you really need a dose of arts - check out the numberous art galleries like the one at Dalhousies.

There are enough Pubs and restaurants many with outdoor patios to keep you busy. There is no shortage of bars and pubs for nightlife right downtown. Halifax has a multitude of festivals in the summer - take in some of them.  Last resort since the city is filled with tourists - people watch and just listen to the ton of different languages.

    Have a great time!

    Good Luck.

  2. Hotels come in different price ranges, this time of year probably starting around $90/night and up.

There's Citadel Hill, Historic Sites along the harbourfront, you can visit some gravesites from Titanic victims, museums, whalewatching tours (the best is Albert's from the Dartmouth side in my opinion) lots of good nightlife and restaurants downtown.  Just a bit of a drive you can get to Peggy's Cove, or Lunenburg where the Bluenose was built.  There is lots to do, visit a tourist bureau anywhere in the province and they'll give you some ideas, maps and a book of things to see.  The book also covers accommodations.
