  1. How white people are starting to torture them and take away their families/ land. How their crops are going. If the daily hunt has been succesful. How the animal traps are working. How the river's tide has been, affecting the fishing season. Any new births, or deaths. Political buisness. Technology upgrades Peace treaties. Yeah. Stuff like that. Hoep I helped

  2. I am Native American (NA) and we have our ancestory from 1670's.

The Piro, the Manso, and The Tiwa were used to build and cultivate the haciendas (farms) of the Spanish. So the NA were not literate.  They did learn to speak Spanish. These and other tribes were take to what is now Santa Fe, NM area. There was a tribal revolt for many reasons. The Spanish punished them. The Spanish retreated to what is El Paso, Tx. Still no reading and writing, so you got oral language tradition. The NA were bought and sold and these were taught to read and write. When the Americans came the Indians were placed on reservations. The part of our tribe in Mexico stayed there. Today the Piro and The Tiwa have reservations in Northern New Mexico and the Manso disappeared.  My grandfather was one of the first generation to be take by force to the White schools in Santa Fe to be made "White" so he spoke perfect English as well as wrote and read it. He spoke a little Spanish. He was born in 1880's. So my guess was that if the NA wrote it was in their native language or in Spanish. Remember the Spanish did not marry with the Indian. Rape was common so you do get mixed children who were not educated. They would write about their daily lives they had had, the slavery they now lived in, the strange religion they were made to believe in, etc. Hope this helps.
