Under white light, the apple is bombarded by every color in the visible spectrum. A truly red apple will absorb every color EXCEPT the red light.

In reality, a red apple has color streaks and blemishes that show up as different colors (green, brown, yellow). These features would look quite different under red light.

Interestingly, a red apple would look black under a green or blue light.
