Question:

What would a smart fighter like Urijah Faber do if he got locked in a cagefight with Brock?

I'm really interested to know what a proven repeat champion would do against someone much heavier and powerful, but relatively newer than him.

Muay Thai standup?

Knee bar? (well, it's proven to be effective in the past)

Would Urijah want to hold on as long as possible to gas out Brock?

How would react against Brock's takedowns.

Hope to hear your breakdown of an unlikely match like this.

Thanks in advance.

  1. Faber is giving up at least 120lbs which is probably to much to give up and win the fight, that being said Lesner has so little BJJ skill that Faber might be able to pull it off. If he were to avoid Lesner for a while and tire him out he might be able to get his back and sub him. I dont think Faber could do anything from his back giving up that much size and strengh, Lesner could just pull out of any arm or leg locks, only way Faber could do it is if he got Lesner's back and was able to hold on long enough to choke Lesner out. That being said I dont think Faber could do it, only guy under 170 that has a real shot is BJ Penn.

  2. Cmon man - Faber fights at about 145 lbs. while Lesnar fights at 265 or so.

To make it fair, someone should throw in Miguel Torres on Faber's side.  Between those 2 they add up to about 265 lbs.

  3. Honestly, I'm not so convinced Urijah would be able to stay away or prevent Brocks takedowns. Brock is explosive and it wouldn't take much effort for him to pull Urijah (or anyone around that weight) to the ground if he had the smallest of holds. Brock also has excellent conditioning (maybe not Urijah good), so I don't think he'd gas out right away either. Honestly, I think Urijah's best shot would be a submission from the bottom on the ground or using his speed to turn his bottom position into top position and go for a submission from there.

  4. Beat the c**p out of whoever set him up in such a crazy match!!! LOL!!

He would have to stick & move like nobodies business. Urijah is a great fighter and has quite a bit of solid experience, but giving up 100 pounds plus is a whole lot to ask. Brock has such a big head and thick neck that he would be extremely difficult for someone that small to KO. He would have to stay away and make Brock waste a lt of energy chasing after him and try to take advantage after Brock started to get tired. He would be fast enough to stay away from Brocks punches and most likely his take down attempts as well and would have to play to the clock and try to wear him down over time. Once Brock was really tired and getting desperate in his take downs Urijah could try to counter with the intent of staying on top and maybe go for and armbar  or triangle choke from the top.

Kind of a ridiculous question, but also pretty funny to try to picture in your head.

  5. A smart fighter like Faber would know better as to try and fight somebody 3 times his size.

He would do a Kalib Starnes impersonation.
