  1. Tend to your physical problems then place you in a facility on a 72 hour hold.  You would be given the choice of admitting yourself to the facility, in which case you can leave if you choose before the 72 hours are up.

A much better option is to see a professional now, on your own, before things get to that point.  Suicide is never the answer.

  2. They would definitely have you examined by a psychiatrist to assess your risk. They would admit you if they found you to be a danger to yourself or others. You definitely need to go to emerg if you feel this way. They will probably refer you to a therapist or shrink.

  3. section you for 72 hours where you will be examined and put on suicide watch. If after the 72 hours they believe you are at threat of killing yourself they will section you for 30 something days (or min if you sort yourself out before it) if after that you still aren't well they can keep you for longer

  4. They will admit you to a mental institution.  You will lose any and all rights to sign yourself out.  If you try to leave, they will send the police to find you.

Not worth it.  Avoid the emergency room and call a crisis hotline.  Seek the care of a phychiatrist or counselor first.  Unless you truly intend to do this, then talk to someone first.

Otherwise, then go to the emergency room and know that you will not get to go home for some time.

  5. Yes, they will call the police to escort you to a mental institution, where they will keep you in an area where you can't get out until they have evaluated you and treated you.

  6. Call the cops and social services, most likely.

  7. First...get off the lexapro~~~~ it causes more emotional stress...I was on it and felt horrible....the Dr put me on paxil for my anxiety and it works...

I have known others on Lexapro...and its not good stuff...GET OFF of it...ASAP....

Suicide is something we tell ourselves will solve our problems dealing with anxiety and other emotional issues....Life is such a struggle these days.....

Be gentle with yourself.....and be sure you have someone to talk with....family hardly ever understands.....nor do uneducated husbands.....

Police are called as a back up....to be sure you are not going to hurt anyone and to try to talk you out of doing something to yourself..

It's so hard to feel so helpless.....and so alone...

I know...I often feel this....and have to deal with anxiety and depression together.....life is not fun.....yet I continue on....

Hubby can commit you if he feels the need....Please don't let him get to that point.....he has NO clue about what you are experiencing right now....

Please if you feel the need to hurt yourself....find someone to talk with....if you are religious...........Pray to the Lord....pray for help....

Its not fun....and it's a lot of work....

    good luck......

  8. You need to call  your local " dept. of social services". Better yet, just show up. This will be the building in your area that houses the welfare dept, and  the community health dept. Ask for help.  Sounds like you need meds and counciling. Can you talk to someone in your family????

  9. well when I slit my wrist, It was because the antidepressant had caused me to want to comit suicide. If you took pills, or slit your wrist youd be in ICU overnight, then after stablized you would be transferd to the MHI. I think if you try to comitt, they have to take you because you are a danger to yourself, and possibly others.. Its not a fun place. ive been there 3 times.

  10. If you go in with the suicide threat they send you, usually right there in the ER area, to a counselor for further testing and to determine treatment. They do not send you away, They treat it seriously. if you feel like suicide get help now. You need not go to an ER but can get a referral from a suicide hot line. 1-800-SUICIDE / 1-800-784-2433

If you already have tried they treat the wounds or the poisoning first and then send you for the evaluation. In that case the police will be called to make a report about the attempt. It is not a police matter but the report is needed by the municipality to assure that someone follows up and offers treatment, a hold over from the days when a hosptial would just send you away, a long time ago.

  11. Well whether you tell them you are going to or have already tried to commit suicide, they are REQUIRED to hold you for 24-72 hours in psychiatric hold.  From there with some psychiatric evaluations they will deem if you are a harm to yourself and if they feel they are they will start work on voluntary or involuntary commitment which is often 1-4 weeks long.  If you're a minor a parent can commit you.  If you're over 18 they can force the courts to commit you.  If someone swallowed pills they give them activated charcoal and then pump out their stomach which is really unpleasant.  If the wrists are slit, they'll bandage them and stitch them if necessary plus all of the psych stuff mentioned above.

  12. They  can  not  really  do  anything  but  save  you.

Why  would  you  want  to  do  something  like  that  ,why  would you    want  to  hurt  your  beautiful  self?  Life  is  GOOD..

Difficulties  comes    along   every  now  and  then  but  other  than  that it  is  only  what  you  call  .....trials  of  life  ,and  every  thing  will  be  a  OK  and  you  will  come  out  way  ahead  and  smelling  like  ROSES

                                                               SMILE,watch  and  see

  13. I've had this happen before where I went in and told them I felt suicidal. They will take you to a room where they will watch you to make sure you don't end your like. They will not let you out of their site. They will also call a psychologist/social worker to come in and ask you questions. If they feel you are a threat to yourself, they will send you to a psychiatric hospital/unit where you'll stay there till they feel you are safe to leave. This could last weeks or even months and sometimes years.

If you feel suicidal, you need to go to the ER to get the help you need and live. Take care of yourself.

  14. if you feel like your going to do it, go there, they will admit you, and you will have to speak with a few doctors, and psychatrists. if you are  under 18 they may contact your parents. go get the help, i did, its scary and sucks, but things get better
