I'm 19, and I'm looking to but a new 09 Lancer in a few weeks. I plan to put $3000 down.

I've talked to a local dealership, and they estimated monthly payments of about...$350.

What I was wondering, is, what would be a rough estimate on insurance for me?

  1. It is always good to get hold of some good resource at firsthand.here is one of them.

  2. Go to esurance.com and put your information in. The website will also show you quotes from other insurance companies. Just choose the option to have the other companies contact you by email.

  3. Auto insurance premiums are based on too many factor to guess. Please be careful about relying too much on people guessing. The only way to know for sure is to get quotes either from a local agent or from free on-line insurance rating services.

Some of the main reasons that I like on-line rating services is because they are free, secure and most of all each service will give the best quote from dozens of companies.

I would suggest that you check out http://www.InsuranceEasy.org this is one of the best consumer insurance sites that I have come across on the internet.  They provide direct links to free insurance rating services as well as company direct links.

By requesting quotes each of the links that they provide you will most likely receive the best rate.

  4. Well it's hard to give you an estimate without knowing a bit more about you such as your driving record and location.  Insurance varies greatly among different states and even between different cities.  If you live in an area with a high theft rate, your rates will be higher.

Keep in mind that it is a brand new car and you are financing it so you will have to carry full coverage insurance which can be quite expensive for a teen driver. Make sure you ask your insurance company about any special discounts you may qualify for such as the good student discount (B average or better). Also, are you planning on being on your parent's policy? Usually teens can save $50-$100 a month just by being on their parent's policy.

I would recommend comparing 3-5 quotes from different insurance comanies before you buy the car just to make sure you are comfortable with how much the insurance is going to cost you.  The site below is really helpful because it allows you to compare quotes for all of the insurance companies in your area for free so you can find the cheapest rate possible.

    Hope this helped!
