  1. If the diamond is well cut then you will not be able to tell the difference in color between an "E" and an "I", however there is a noticeable difference between a VS1 and an Si2. Go with the better clarity.

    For example:

    1 ct E SI2 Round $4,668.00

    1 ct I VS1 Round $5,599.00

  2. Look at the rings....

Mine's and E color with S1 clarity, and I LOVE it!

It says you should be able to see the iclusions, but I swear, I can't.... It sparkles so prettily! I always get compliments on it too....

BUT the color of the setting matters too...

If it's White gold or platinum, you'd be better off getting the colorless (E), cause the metal might show off the yellowish hue of the near-colorless (I) stone....

if it's Yellow gold, the near-colorless stone shouldn't look any different than a colorless, unless you set it side by side with one for close inspection (And any girl that does that is too materialistic in my books...)

  3. It depends on her preferences. If you don't know them, pick the one you think is prettier.

  4. i think color is incredibly important. Alot inclusions found in a SI2 ring cant be seen with the naked eye, and I have seen some VS1 where you can see inclusions. I saw if you cna't see any flaws without magnification, go with the whiter diamond. It will be more brillant and sparkle better.

P.S. dont forget the importance of the cut as well, if it's a badly cut diamond with a shallow table you will loose alot of the diamond brillance. Try to get a nice balance of cut, color and clarity...

  5. The best thing to do would be to let her choose the ring.

Also, if you're anywhere near a "diamond district" such as NYC, or Philly, get a loose diamond, and have it set.  You'll get a LOT more for your $$$.

    Congrats!!!

  6. Personally, I would always choose clarity over color.  A cloudy diamond doesn't look good to me.  A little tinge of yellow doesn't bother me at all, and it isn't noticeable to most people, unless it is set in a setting where clear colorless diamonds will be surrounding it.

Of course, it is ultimately your girl's preference that matters.

    Congratulations.

  7. yea, let her choose. i didnt look them up so i dont know what they look like, but if ones bigger, shell like it more, just the way girls are.

  8. I'd go with the better color provided the inclusion isn't right in the center.  You may want to discuss it with her though.

  9. I wouldn't choose the Si2 ring, personally. That is horrible clarity.

Why not go for something like F or G color and VS2 clarity?
