Me and my friends are planning on going to Puerto Rico the weekend of August 22- 25, our travel dates are pretty flexible though from wednesday the 20th to monday 25th... we're departing from chicago and dont need a hotel or anything, just tickets

Its five of us, and the cheapest ticket we have found is $280. When is a good time to have a ticket by, and where are some places where we can find cheap tickets? We're all students, and we have looked in kayak.com and studentuniverse.com. thanks

  1. Depends on your starting point.  Traveling from San Diego to PR is expensier than from Miami.

  2. Try Spirit Airlines.  I just bought tickets for $89 ea way from Chicago.  They have constant specials.

  3. I just checked http://www.bookinbuddy.com

and I got $279 with tax nonstop flying American, United or USAir.  (8/20 to 8/25) Jet Blue was much higher.

I would check those airline websites sometimes they are cheaper.  Just keep checking ever day and if the price comes down 30 or 40 dollars grab it. Fuel is going up every day and you don't want the airline price to go higher.

On the airline websites you can see how full the flights are, if the plane is kind of empty those prices will come down, if they are getting full you better buy. It's all about demand that drives the price.

    Good Luck)

  4. Try priceline.com where you can bid for price of the ticket. for What to do check this site. Take care, Raul
