i'm going into 11th grade, but i'd like to get a head start on my violin concerto that every graduate in my symp. orchestra has to do.

i like pieces that are either EXTREMELY happy or EXTREMELY sad (i prefer sad)

i like vivaldi and i hate bach (no offense)

whats a good piece?

--i'd like it to be a bit hard, but manageable, haha--

  1. my top suggestion would be to do the vivaldi winter violin concerto with a piano accompaniment  like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FsQMEEsY...

fantasia on shenandoah by robert washburn (not very hard, but pretty sad)

you could play a part of the five variants of dives and lazarus by r. vaughan williams

ive always liked capriccio epagnol by nikolay rimskey-korsakov

theres the allegro from concerto grosso, opus 6, no. 1 by george frideric handel but you probably wouldnt like it if you dont like bach

concerto viii fatto per la notte di natale by arcangelo corelli, op.6 nr.8 has some really cool solos in it, i like the one in the third allegro

symphony no. 15 in g major (iv. finale) by w.a. mozart, k124

    spring by vivaldi

concerto in a minor by vivaldi

  2. You might want to look at some of the pieces in the Barbara Barber Book 2:

The Seitz G minor is especially nice.
