What would be a good career for someone who wants to work with big cats/wild dogs..but isnt really into birds

You could specialize in those areas but unfortunately if you wished to become a vet, you would have to be educated on all topics. After that however, you're free to choose the animals you'd care to work with. I'm also sure that the same applies if you wanted to major in zoology.

Specialize in mammals and be a mammalogist, or only study carnivores.  Most wildlife biologists specialize in one group or type of animal.  Very few study everything.
