I'm in love with golf, and would enjoy having a career involving it. I'm 16 and well qualified to go to a four-year college. What are some interesting golf careers? Thanks

P.S. I think being a PGA Pro is out of the question.

  1. I also enjoy the game of golf, but I turned 17 on the 19th of this month so I was 16 for a while as well. I have wanted to pursue a career in golf but I didn't know if I have the drive to push myself  2-3 hours everyday for a chance of making the PGA tour. If you have enough knowledge of your golf game you may be able to instruct others or become a pro a some golf course without actually having to play in tournaments. I have also considered going into turf management working at golf courses if you enjoy tearing up things such as sod and the earth, lol. Golf is a game that takes patience and dedication, a never ending pursuit of perfection og getting better so you can play this game now until you die 100 years from now, no one really knows.

  2. Maybe you could try and look into going into superintendents school.

Be prepared, most jobs in golf do not pay well unless your on tour...Maybe you can try and work on your game and get on the the PGA.  I'll be your caddie!!!

  3. For me? Breaking 100. :-)

  4. course managements are acailable in canada , still lots of vacancies gaurenteed employment , money to start is not that good . but the degree is worth its wieght in gold good luck

  5. Look into the Major of Golf Service Management...

It's basically a business course, but you learn about running a clubhouse, scoring tournaments, hosting golf outings, etc...

You have a be a good golfer, but not PGA Tour Quality

I know Arizona State and the University of Nebraska Lincoln both offer this unique major...

    Good Luck!

  6. Go work for one of the major equipment companies. They are located in the Carlsbad, Ca. area. Beautiful place to live and great courses nearby.

That's a website for PGA careers.  They range from assistant golf professionals, club fitters, sales representatives, and even health and fitness.  Check out the site and browse around; it will give you a good idea of all the golf industry jobs out there.
