  1. Mr Anonymous, you're the one with your head stuck up your ***. I went to Oxford and I was educated at an extremely ordinary state comprehensive followed by an open entry state sixth form college. About half the students at Oxford  (and Cambridge) went to state schools. "Everyone" just says that they only take rich people from private schools because it makes them feel better about not getting in. I met far more snobs at Manchester.

So yeah, there are plenty of good universities in England. And France. I hate to state the obvious...but you have considered that universities in France generally teach in French, haven't you? Unless you're bilingual, studying in another language is extremely tough, even if you speak it well.

  2. I enjoyed studying at the L'université Paul Valéry in Montpellier, France. I have also known American students who have enjoyed studying at a Sorbonne in Paris.  Go to France over England -- it will be a richer cultural experience because of the language barrier (I have studied abroad in both countries).

  3. I don't know about France but the best Unis in England are ones like: Oxford, Cambridge, Brunel, King's College, Warwick, St Andrews, Southhampton. Surrey....... there are LOADS of really good unis but it depends on what you want to study obviously and to get in Oxford or Cambridge you need ridiculously high grades lol... it's mainly those who could afford to go to private school that end up in Oxford or Cambridge

You know (sorry for my language) but the sort of people who have their head stuck up their own ****... this isn't me being jealous or derogatory, believe me ask anyone... you have a lot to learn about the English culture lol

EDIT: I'm sorry for what i said above about the sort of people who go to Oxford and Cambridge... it's lucky than you can edit your answer because obviously what i said is completely wrong and i shouldn't have made such a statement if i haven't been in the position to gain experiences and make a judgement based on that... i think most of my opinion and perception is built on what i've heard others say and reports in the media etc.

Obviously the person who answered below me has more authority to back up what they say considering they've actually studied at Oxford... but i don't think it was right to say i have my head stuck up my own **** either lol...

  4. Good colleges in England include Cambridge, Exeter, and Oxford.

However, I don't believe you meant in your question for someone to just name a couple of colleges.

Look here for a complete list of every college in the U.K.:

    http://www.scit.wlv.ac.uk/ukinfo/alpha.h...

Picking one and then being accepted by it is the problem. :)

    Hope that helps you!
