A fun and interesting craft to get them excited! Teaching a class with younger kids too but already have an easier craft for them. (No nut or egg products because of allergies)

  1. use some paper, or maybe cardboard might be better and glue, or paste, and have them make animal designs on the cardboard out of them, or a "mosaic" kind of design, or whatever they want really. Then once they are dry, they could paint them.

  2. I am 12 so this is my opinion:

Clay pots - get some small pots, decorate them, then plant seeds in.

  3. Use the seeds to make a pretty necklace.  If there are boys in the class they can make one for their favorite female (mom, grandmother, sister or even girlfriend).

    What to do:

    1.  Thread a length of nylon string onto a thin needle and carefully push the seeds onto it, one by one. Push the needle through the fat end of the seed, from edge to edge. Watch your fingers!

    2.  Tie 2 lengths of nylon (dental floss) to the ends of the necklace so that you can tie it around your neck. If you have the clasps from an old necklace, sew these to the ends of the string.

    HINTS:

*Try this craft before hand.  One other site recommends soaking the seeds for an hour and allowing them to air dry first.

*Painted seeds: Using part of your seeds, lay them out on newspaper, or in the bottom of a cardboard box. Using different colors of spray paint, spray one side, let them dry, and spray the other, then dry again. When they are completely dry put them in quart resealable plastic bags or jars. You can also sprinkle them with glitter while the paint is still wet.
