  1. a car around 10 years old

  2. In australia falcons and commodores of the late 80s early90s.

So rear wheel drive ford GM or chrysler are the go

  3. Glad to hear you are buying it yourself.  My boys knew that they would have to buy their own cars if they wanted a car when they were 16.

Even so, we wanted them to have something a little more solid that a tuna fish can of a car.

Our best recommendation is a jeep cherokee. used of course.  a couple of dings can be ok too.  We wanted to encourage our boys to drive safely but didn't want them to stress over keeping the car pristine.  The jeep engine is easy to work with and these are solid cars.  If you need to do any work on the engine the parts for this car are everywhere.

Biggest recommendation is no matter what car you get to remember to change the oil regularly.  This will save you alot of money in the long run.  My boys generally change the oil themselves and then once in a while we take it into jiffy lube so they can give it a good look too.

  4. Well from personal experience, i would say a jeep, they are sturdy and you wont have a lot of problems that you can easily fix yourself or have a family member fix. If you are totaly not a jeep person get a pickup truck. They are nice too. Dont buy just an old beeter you find, research and be willing to spend 3-5 thousand dollars for a decent first car.

    Good luck on your search

  5. 2 door, one that won't roll over on sharp turns. good on gas.  I would say a mazda or a toyota small car.  If you are responsible get a newer one, if you take risks (please don't) get a POS

  6. an old beater

  7. a saxo or 106. cheap to buy, and cheap insurance.

  8. Corsa or Nissan Micra? Look on eBay, they have some very cheap cars occasionally. If you know a mechanic then get one that needs something small doing to it and you'll get a big discount. Don't forget you'll also need insurance. If your parents will let you go onto their policy it will be cheaper for you.

  9. Something you can work on yourself, is cheap and maybe pre-dented because its not likely to survive anyway.

I know all the kids what civics, I looked at then for my son and because they are the teens car of choice they are all poorly maintained pieces of c**p. Stay away from the teen popular cars if you want the most for the money.

You can get 4 door hondas and other 4doors for cheap and in good condition. After you get your daily driver THEN get a sports car if you want one. I have a Stingray Vett and it rocks!

    Check craigslist.com

  10. Something you won't mind getting dinged up.  I and most of my friends beat up our first cars pretty good. Wait at least a few years to get the car you really want.

  11. A Yaris

  12. My boyfriend runs a small car lot and basically any Honda is popular with first time drivers and their parents, especially Honda Civics. Toyotas are nice also. These are also gas savers. These cars are great also because they look pretty good customized with nice wheels and graphics.

  13. 68 cougar. its badass and cheap if it looks not very well tended to. just a coat of paint and a patch job and mayb sum new interior and u got the best car ever

  14. a mercedes!!

lol..na get something cool and old school!

  15. Something cheap and can get you from point A to point B. Go to one of those buy here, pay here places. They have a nice cheap selection.

  16. something sturdy with good gas mileage.  Below is a link to help find the car to suit you best.

  17. A used Toyota Carolla or Honda Civic

  18. A blue Prius!

  19. a chevette or an escort

  20. A Chevy Cavalier... 2-door coupe...

i still drive my 99, with 198,763 miles! and no troubles...just NORMAL maintenance...

a couple of starters, and  a valve cover gasket replacement justa few months ago...

I get about 27 miles per gallon and my fill ups are about $45- $55 dollars...

you can find many for around $1,500 - $4,000...
