I was planning on opening a holistic vet hospital or clinic and thought it would be nice if I had a pet that would great people as they walked in. Don't get my wrong...it would be a pet too but sort of a pet with a job.

  1. parrot, would be nice

  2. I would Never recommend getting a large bird as a 1st bird (the large once are mostly the ones that talk)

Start out with a budgie or something like that.  bigger birds are harder to care for- they make bigger messes and need more attention.

If you are going to get a bird that will talk though, I would recomend either a quaker parrot (thats what i have, they are soo sweet), a african grey (very smart). You need to seriously think about if you can carry for a bird this size 1st though. If you decide to READ READ READ everything you can about pet birds 1st.

    Good Luck

  3. Some pet birds are outgoing entusiastic talkers others are more shy about who they choose to "speak" really mimic speech around! Yellow naped amazon are less shy then greys but I would recommend a female do to the aggresive nature of male amazons...They also have this amazing talent of a fabulous singing voice...it might be a consideration because when they are well cared for and happy man they talk and talk and talk...you certainly do not need a tv!

  4. hi

budgies (parakeets) are always easy to get to talk. and they are also very cheap i got 3 budgies for $10.

budgies are very social and friendly too.

  5. cuckatoo

  6. African Grey are excellent talkers...Just teach them how to say hello or hi or welcome and when people walk out he can say good bye or good day or bye or cya

  7. cockatiels are amazing creatures. They are gorgeous birds! they do great alone or in a pair. They, if hand fed, are very affectionate creatures towards all ages of humans. They can not only easily be taught to talk, but do various tricks. One of my cockatiels can climb a ladder and ring a bell. He also knows how to sing the andy griffeth song.  They do not require much attention if you dont have the time because you are too busy at the hospital. They can easily entertain themselves as long as they are provided with enough space and toys. They are very colorful birds that come in a variety of mutations(or color patterns) and are sure brighten and cheer up your lobby.
