What would be a good major to take along with sociology?

I know when I go to college I want to have a double major. I want the first to be sociology because of my interests in it. However, I have heard it is difficult to get a job with just a degree alone (I do not want to teach sociology) What would be another major to go along with sociology to help increase my chances of finding a job? (I would be living in Washington DC by the way)

Anthropology. Or English, since writing skills seem to be going down the toilet (not making reference to you, just a general statement).

Economics -- as an antidote to the victimization theories you'll learn in Sociology.  In addition, when you graduate, you'll be able to get a real job making real money, not being a serf in a nonprofit.

I'm doubling in Sociology and Anthropology, and kind of got a funny 'eybrow raise' or the like from it...

I like it though. I enjoy it actually. First year and that was a pain till I got all the grounding...

As far as what to double it with...I'm in Australia so as far as I know your double major has to be in the same degree..so..I know linguistics is a popular one..politics? Depends what you like I guess..gl

to understand the behavior of groups of people in society you also have to understand the behavior of the individual.

Study Psychology as well. I am getting myself ready for enrollment for ASA in PSY and I do believe that this would be a great opportunity for you to expand you knowledge in this Field as well.

It depends on what you want to do after you graduate.

I am double majoring in Psychology and Sociology, but plan on going to grad school in Psychology.

I know several people who are double majoring in Sociology and Business, because they plan on a corporate career track (sociology can really help in business), I know others who are double majoring in Sociology and Criminal Justice. It all comes back to what type of career you want. You might discuss this with your academic adviser before declaring a 2nd major.
