  1. The only thing I'd add to LadyM's post is that the teacher's should also be given extra weapons-retention training since they are surrounded by potential assailants throughout the day.

  2. Well how about NOTHING! How low is America going to sink? Amp up the control on who gets INTO the school then there wouldn't have to be guns in the d**n classrooms. I'm sorry but that is craziness.

  3. Anything they are comfortable with that they can qualify with.

    H

  4. Great answers throughout.  I'll drop my 2 cents worth in the same style as Lady...

    1)  Light frame

    2)  Alloy or Stainless for wear/corrosion reasons, most teachers stay a long, long time.

    3) Any caliber they can truly, truly handle

    4)  Prefer hi-cap as their is little chance they would have a chance to reload

    5)  With a high-cap, need to have the "pipe" cleared as mentioned if for no other reason, if the gun were taken away, the teacher might have a marginal chance of escape

    6)  .32 Magnum .380, .38, or 9mm with frangible ammo makes most sense.  Anything more is simply over-powering

    7)  Learn the meaning of double-taps.  Have you seen the SIZE of most teenage mal-contents

    8)  Semi-Auto pistols preferred, .38 notwithstanding

    Models to consider:

    Semi-Autos:

    Glock 19

    Walther PPK

KAHR 9mm single column polymer/stainless (excellent choice on feel, accuracy, comfort, ability to successfully feed frangibles), KAHR .380 (talk about comact!!!, super thin .080 inches wide

    Taurus 24X7 in 9mm, compact 3" barrel,

Ruger's LCP new .380 (Stay away from Kel-Tec, too spotty as it relates to quality),

    North American Guardian's .25 mag, .32 mag, Seecamp .380,

    Revolvers:

Smith and Wesson: Airweights, Lady Smiths, alloy smiths, .38 spl

Taurus: Copies of the smiths above.  Just a bit cheaper

All in all, I would find what's comfortable to carry, easy to manage, super-reliable feeding if a semi-auto were selected, wear resistant finish.  Above all, practice with said weapon is critical.  It's sad it's come to this but teachers need protection as well.

  5. Personally, I think they should give instruction from a tank.

We should provide necessary tank access, lunch service, and toiletry for those who find it purposeful to teach from tanks.

I think the teacher should be given a monthly stipend to help offset the cost of their tanks and provided with an ammunition allotment and time at the local range.

In addition, I believe that we should provide legal assistance for those teachers who fail the blindspot training and run over students who get in the way of the treads.

We should have monthly carbon monoxide poison tests for the students (running a tank indoors could perhaps damage the lungs of the weaker students).

That is the only way to truly protect your teachers from the scum of the earth...

  6. The only comment I have is to contradict the recommendation to use frangible ammo.   I say to use standard high quality defensive ammo.  Frangible ammo does not feed well in all autos.  Better to have a 100% reliable ammunition when your life and the lives of those around you are depending on your weapon functioning.

Federal Air Marshals  did some testing with frangible ammo.  The results gave a recommendation that they all carry standard hollow point defensive ammo and do not carry frangible ammunition.  They are flying in a plane......   If conventional ammo is good enough for a plane, it is good enough for a classroom.

Regarding the weapon, whichever handgun fits them and they are comfortable and competent to shoot along with being able to conceal and carry it comfortably.

  7. A name brand (sig sauer, smith and wesson, etc)  semi auto (with a safety) .38 caliber would be sufficient. 13 round clip, no need to keep one chambered (added safety measure).

No need for a .45 or a .50 Desert Eagle. The attacker/s is/are probably not wearing body armor or craziness like that (though you DO never know in today's F-ed up society)   A .38 is what I'd carry if I were them.

  8. They should carry a gun that they can:

    a. conceal, during all their normal daily activites.

    b. fire accurately and quickly.

    c. uses frangible ammo.

    d. they can draw quickly from concealment.
