Question:

What would be a good next step games bit for my horse?

I currently ride my QH gelding with a full cheek snaffle in games. I'm looking for a bit that will give me a bit more respect when it comes to stopping for key hole, turning at the end of pole weaving, and slowing enough to make nice turns in jumping figure 8, but that won't give him a hard mouth. Nothing I do can get him to slow down enough in those events. He runs great and turns nicely with the snaffle and on trail rides it works wonderfully at any and every speed. It's just that when we run an event he will not stop until the pattern is completed. Any ideas?

  1. slow twist or dr. bristol

  2. hackamore.

  3. Try a hackamore.and it sounds like he needs some more training so he will stop.He should start and stop when you tell him to. Not when he wants.
