  1. I definately agree that there is no need to mention gender.  Most probably it would be quite obvious by the name.  Save the positive male role model, etc. for the interview.

Tell your bro "way to go!".  There are so few men wishing and willing to enter the early childhood field.  We need more!

  2. from what i learned in college, this is what you put under objective...

Objective: To obtain the assistant preschool position for *whatever the school district or agency*

    ***************

    EDIT:

after looking at what other people are writing, mentioning being male, etc...i looked up what you right for you objective, thinking maybe i have been putting the wrong type of things under objective in my resumes. but my suggestive above jives with what i've found on-line.

here's a great website about writing resume's and this part is specifically called Resume Objective Statements:

    http://www.enetsc.com/resumetips11.htm

you really don't mention having a love of working with children or wanting to be a good role model for a male in a resume. a resume should just be the facts. education, employment history, volunteer experience, etc... and yes, you do stick with one objective.

you put the part about being a good male role model in the cover letter. that's where you can get a little more personal. but stick to the facts in the resume and in the objective. then you can also list more than one reason for wanting the job. but it's not the same as your objective in the resume. the cover letter is where you pull them in with the charm and charisma.

  3. I like "To provide a good male role model for children", but I also like "To help children learn in an age appropriate environment"

Do you have to limit it to one objective????

  4. Not sure what you exactly mean here. I think anyone who wants to work with children, man or woman should want to because they enjoy children and want to help them learn in an age appropriate environment.

  5. To help children bypass the stereotypical attitude that woman make better teachers.

    Or

To provide good male role model for young children.

  6. I am a male in ECE and its sad that less than 5% of the teacher/aides are in early childhood education.  Since your brother has little/no experience and will not have all of the responsibilities of a teacher, I would emphasize two things.  First, I wouldnt be shy about underlining the fact that young children in care facilites are deprived of the necessary connection with men.  Second, I would put what my intentions were as a male in the facility ie----I am eager to assume the role of a positve male figure in young children while learning the principles and practices of ECE.  I would also include anything at all that he has done with children or experiences as a child in care facilities as a statement of connection.  I encourage him to get this job. WE NEED MORE MEN!  If I can help , write me back.

  7. u love children, want to see the children be developed by ur own hands, n mur!!!

  8. To assist children in a preschool environment to reach their potential

You don't need to make any mention of your gender in your resume although if he has a male name they'll be able to pick that he is.

At the resume stage they're looking for the best candidates.

If he gets to the interview stage he can tell the interviewers whyhaving a male in the preschool environment might be a good idea.

These would include the children having a good male role model. Depending on the area some children may not have an adult male role model in their life or the role model they have is not a very good one.

Showing fathers they can be as much a part of their child's play as mothers.

Another benifit if he is working with special needs children might be that as a male he is likely to be stronger and be able to control a child with behaviour problems better than a woman as a result. Some of the schools in my area request a male for children to work with children with behaviour problems in their ads for this reason.

  9. To be a good male role model for young children, in a field that is mainly women working.
