My house is right across the street from where we have a festival every year in our town, and I am looking for a good idea for something to sell. Last year someone was selling these things that were like little latter decorations that you put on your front porch. They were painted colorfully and you could buy little things to hang from them for all of the different seasons (Halloween Christmas, Easter ETC. ) I see them all over town now, and I'm sure that person made a fortune. What would be a good original product to sell?

  1. Incenses usually sell well, hand craft sell a lot

buy a batch of plaster figures and some paint and set up a table to have kids sit and paint there figures

how about sand jars ( same principles as the plaster figures)

buy  pom-poms and squiggly eye buy fabrics make handkerchiefs and make them pay for each item they buy for the sand filled figure kinda like these

I used to love these tables at fairs

  2. This year, with more grocery stores moving away from one-use bags, simple and sturdy bags made of fun fabric would likely be a hot seller.  Chances are also strong that some people you know have a great fabric stash they'd love to get rid of.  Once you're used to the pattern, these should take you about 20-30 minutes each to make.

If you want to make them and need a pattern, email me for instructions.  Click on my avatar for an email link, and make sure your account is set up to receive emails.  (I had someone email me for instructions on something recently but she didn't allow emails on her account.  That was weird.)

  3. Popcorn.  Low cost, big markup.  Of course, you won't become rich and famous though.

Oh wait!  That's not an original item.  I'll come up with one in a minute.

O.K.  I got bored on winter, and went to the craft store.  I saw these cheap, tiny wooden boxes.  I picked the ones with glass on the top and sides.  I then got paint pens and used regular acrylic paint too, and just started painting them with squigglies, dots, x's, circles, etc.... in various odd colorations, but always bright ones.  People love them!  They will sell well.  But the ones with the glass on the sides will sell better usually. There are other shapes too, such as trays and birdhouses.  But I'd stay away from birdhouses.  They don't sell as well.
