What would be a good place for a short vacation for me and my man?

we live in ohio and wanna go someplace tropical where theres beach. we dont make much money, and only wanna cheaper hotel. any cheaper all inclusives? where would be a good place to go to where u dont need visa/passport? we wanna go somewhere where theres rainforest, nice beaches, a lot of shopping, and good food. i told him maybe puerto rico but he starting to say no. any real good places? btw, any places that are g*y couple friendly?

I'd like to mount a campaign to encourage people not to go anywhere. Travel has become so expensive and unpleasant that it's hard to understand why people don't stay home.

Why are we crowding our highways and airports to get someplace else? Newspapers and magazines are filled with ads trying to get us to travel. They want us to go somewhere - anywhere but home.

Check out Key West, Florida. It's tropical, nice beaches, good food and you always have the everglades.

Key West is g*y friendly. Plus no passport needed.

The only other place besides PR you can go is the USVI without a passport.  St Thomas, St Croix and St John. St Thomas has fantastic duty free shopping, beautiful beaches and great food. Bolongo Bay Beach Resort on St Thomas has all-inclusive options available. But I think your better off going non all-inclusive. Brooze is reasonable and plenty of great restaurants to enjoy.

You will need a valid photo ID and your original birth certificate to go to PR or USVI.

It sounds like Puerto Rico would be great for you guys. Why is he saying no? The only places a US citizen can go with no passport in the caribbean is PR & the USVI. In the caribbean there are not many g*y friendly places, but suprisingly Puerto Rico is pretty open to it. It goes aganst the normal traditions but PR is very Americanized now. The water club in San Juan is a very g*y friendly hotel, but it is expensive. Puerto Rico has nice beaches. San Juan beaches arent the greatest but they are ok like Miami beach. Vieques & Culebra have the most gorgeous beaches with white sand  & secluded. Rincon beaches have golden sand & gorgeous sunsets & surfing. Near Ponce they have Gilligan's island & guanica which are nice beaches. Also there is El Yunque rain forest in Rio Grande. you can hike & swim in the waterfalls. Also in Fajardo there is a bioluminescent lagoon called las croabas that glows in the dark. Very Nice! Camuy Caves, Arecibo telescope, bacardi factory & el Morro & Viejo San Juan are must sees too. & old san Juan has tons of shopping & nightlife & puerto rican food is delicious.  Goodluck :)
