What would be a good plant to plant in the middle of the summer?

  1. Rudbeckia, coneflower, shasta daisies, roses, delphinium, fall blooming anemonies, trillium, ferns, all the annuals on sale at the nursery (as long as you keep them watered well!) and any perennial on sale that still seems to be in good shape. You will have to do an early morning water on your new plants almost every morning to get them through the heat, but this is the most economical time of year to buy and enjoy plants. In fall, buy any hostas that are left.
