A product is something that helps the deaf children with deaf education.

Example: Make dog beds and donate them to the Animal Rescue Foundation.

  1. I don't know about dog beds or products unrelated to deafness, but I am a teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing and I would be happy to buy:

Picture/or signed dictionary CD for middle school (easy to find for lower elementary but not higher concepts)

Video of ASL signs for science or social studies: define words by signing the definitions

Make ASL CD/video of popular stories and sell on line

Crafts/ jewelry which has hand shapes, or ASL theme.

  2. An idea would be to have your kids interact with the public.  Your students could create flyers that have pictures of familiar signs in them and distribute them to members of the public in a downtown area while asking for donations for the Animal Rescue Foundation.  The flyers could have pictures of the signs 'Thank you' or something similar.   You could accompany your students and be ready to answer any questions.

  3. Do you actually have to create the product?  How about just a prototype?

I'm not sure if such a thing exists or not... If not, it should...

How about a computer program that "automagically" converts audio to animated sign language? If one could actually make such a thing, it seems there would be tremendous market potential and it would be of great value to deaf persons.
