Question:

What would be a good "first starting out car" for a girl?

i'm 16 and i need a car by the end of this month to get to and from college with. It would be helpful if someone could help me find a car that is used, decent and within a 6000$ price range. Sorry don't have myspace but have you checked craigslist? A lot of people I know have found cars on there. Or ebay...good luck. My first car was a used saturn. It was only $3500 and it was super sporty, cute, leather seats, tinted windows, moon roof, stero system...etc. Just check the local papers, you'll find something nice with $6000, easily.

i would go for something small and reliable. my first car was a toyota corolla and it was great. it never broke down on me and took me everywhere. also honda accord or toyota camry are both great options good luck!

For starters, 6000 is an amazing "first car" price. Mine was a grand and it was a 98 hyundai elantra. A good first car would definately be a Japanese brand (Honda, Hyundai, etc) They are usually inexpensive and can go for well over 100,000 miles without a problem. Being in college, I'm sure you will put alot of miles on it visiting home. However, if you choose American, my Dad has a Ford Fusion and absolutely loves it. Do some research online and look for low miles, good MPG and saftey features are always a plus. Whatever you do, do not get a Cavalier. My friends have had them in the past and had so many problems with them. I would say a Civic would be good for you. They're cute and compact, good MPG and low in price. Happy hunting!!

use craigs list or auto trader, try to find cars that are in dealerships, because if there is something wrong with it once you buy it, you can take it back for a full refund depending on the warentee!

try to go for japanese made cars, toyotas are the best of the best, toyota echos can get up to 40mpg... in my opinion... stay away from ford!!! greman cars are good too like VW, BMW... but they are probably out of the price range!

A jetta is a cute and reliable car and I am sure you can get a used one for under $6000. Try looking on Craigs List for private sellers and see what they are asking. I always wanted a jetta as a first car but I actually got a 1990 Corolla and it was a great and safe car.

get a 99/00' toyota corolla

they are extremely cheap in every way including maintenance, insurance, gas etc. they are better than honda civic becuz they are cheaper first of all and have an atleast $1000 more resale value.

its extremely reliable and will last you for sure until you can buy a good car. i saw a 99 corolla selling for $3,900. If you look around I'm sure you can find good deals on this. Right now I think this is the best option available for you.

lol and by the way i'm 16 too but im only going into grade 11, how did you finish grade 12 that quick?

a ford thunderbird you can find them for under 3000$ my sister got one for 700 bucks from her friend that should have been 2000 something And it runs well.

I would recommend either a Ford Focus or VW Jetta. Both are cute and should be affordable while at the same time get great gas mileage.

you want something imported like a honda toyota vokes wagon bmw mersadys volvo low gas milages less money to fill up nice an confortable to drive and safe and the insurance wont kill you eather and there are all cute cars and and you can defflenty get any one of these for about 6 grand they will be used and they will all will perform there job going to point a to point b just rember to check with your mechanic before you buy somthing ok

yeah you could go with the jetta with a roxy sticker on the back along with every other babe in the world but its not all about looking cute. generally something foreign lasts longer and gets great gas milleage. i assume since its you first car you dont have too much money and you want it to last and have good resail value. a jetta is expensive to fix and VW's dont have the best track record. honda or toyota are by far the most reliable. the cheapest cars being a honda civic or toyota corolla. i prefer honda but both are good and cheap. trust me!

i seen a black geo metro w/ nice wheels on them and i thought that that car would ever look that good...and for fuel economy..only got 3 cylinders ..its a runner ..they not bad at all ..i drove 1...and yes iknow for sure its good for a girl clollege student

Ford fiesta encores. Can never go wrong. I had one but i wrote mine off, i took my eyes off the road and went into a police camera :(

They look good, cheap to buy and cheap to insure and get petrol for.

But i have a citreon saxo now which is boyish i think!!
