We have a yard, a German Shepard, and a cat. We are looking for a dog that will sleep with him and doesn't shed much.

  1. If you want something that doesnt shed much a breed that has 'poodle' hair normally dont shed as much as other breeds. But I was going to say maybe something like a beagle. Beagles make great childrens pets since they are so lovable and the arent very big. But they do shed as much as any other dog. But any breed you get if you keep it brushed and any good health with a good diet you shouldnt have much problem with shedding.

  2. MINIATURE PINSCHER. Dont shed and are very playful and outgoing. Very keen watchdogs too. Also easy to potty train. Im sure your son would love a minpin =]

  3. chiuauas dont shed :)

  4. a Jack Russel Terrier.

there adorable, and small enough to play with a small child.

this type of dog will deffinatly get along with a german shepard and they hardly ever even shead a hair.

  5. Well it depends on what kind of kid you have, if he is loud and a bit rough, then possibly a Jack Russell Terrier or even a Rat Terrier.

If he is quieter and gentle, then perhaps a Ex-Racing Greyhound, after a racing greyhound loses too many races, the owners ditch it, then they get sent to a special adoption program, usually families adopt them because they are such good pets.

Also, one of your best options would be a Beagle.

  6. Not a Chihuahua! Too fragile. A dachshund would be good with a child that treats him like a buddy. They shed a little, not much.  They don't need a lot of grooming or outside activities. They enjoy running outside but are just as happy playing inside.

  7. all dogs shed.. but a pug is the best small dog you can get for kids. I have chihuahua's and they get really scared of kids.

  8. If you're ready for the responsibility when he gets chincy with the dog-chores, I'd recommend a Cairn terrier. They're very active, I'm sure your son is too, they're almost completely shedless, and they're very smart and loving. Mine sleeps with my mom all night. He used to with me but I rolled over on him he wasn't too appreciative of that. :D

I love them. They're very hardy, not fragile but not big.
