What would be a good starter/sport bike for the street?

I've been riding motorcycles/dirtbikes for a few years. Now i'd like to get a street bike. All advice appreciated. Thanks.

start used, start small

600 or less for a sport bike would be ideal

if you're over 6 foot or 250 pounds, ninja 500.

good starter bike would be a ninja 500 or a gsxr 600. since you've been riding for years, maybe a 600? cbr600 are really nice as well as the gixxers. I just bought a 2008 gsxr 750 (my very first bike with no bike experience before) and i love it. They are very comfortable but its up to you. I would prefer a honda or a suzuki over the kawasaki and the yamahas (but thats just me) good luck..
