  1. use the greg and steve cd or hap palmer these are good but if your teaching the abc or numbers get arug with these items on it so they can walk on them.

  2. you need to be on their level, and not get mad if they wander off. you have to understand the way thier minds work before you get them to understand what you are trying to teach them. also, if you get them into a routine, it will help so they know like after circle is art after art is snack after snack is outside, if they know whats coiming then they won't get fidigity as much..

  3. i agree with angela b

  4. 'Learning Through Play'

Toddlers learn through being active-by DOING rather than watching and listening. Play is also fun for children and so they are more willing ot get involved, repeat the play/learning and have boosted self-esteem...so have education in the form of play toys...eg:

Numbers-learn through puzzles, songs and rhymes etc.

Science-walk about in nature areas-collecting leaves and printing them to see size, shapes, patterns etc.

Social skills-playing in the same space, learning to share the toys, rolling ball back and forth etc

I could go on and on :)

If you want to see some theorists look up:

    skinner

    freud

    piaget

    vygotsky

    Guha,

    Montessori,

    Steiner

    and HighScope

  5. A schedule for Toddlers needs to be flexible with long periods fdor exploration. At my centers the toddler teachers would have prop boxes which she would offer a few at a time. One box may have scarves, one might haveballs, one might have dolls or trucks to the toddlers and change once their interests waned. Each child is at adifferent developmental level, but they are not good at sharing so you need to have many duplicates. There would also be things at the table for them to explore like crayons, play dough, large beads for stringing etc. Do not use dittoes of coloring pages, but give them lots of opportunities to see how they can move paint using brushers, foam brushes etc. i think if you remember that toddlers have short attention spans and need to have choices you will have a smoother day than if you tried to make them do something for too long.
