  1. People generally tend to say that the average walking pace is 4 miles per hour, you're going at about 6 miles per hour so that's not bad but you're not going to be winning any medals at the olympics either.

The key thing here is that you are talking exercise. Weight isn't going to drop off overnight, it takes time, Six months minimum to see any real difference.

I have to agree with the other poster here who said swimming and cycling are better forms of excersice. Jogging plays h**l with your joints and that is worsened when you're a little overweight. I'd definately recomend getting a bike and cycling to and from work and if you have the time and facilities get yourself off swimming once a week.

  2. i would say that half an hour is excellent for 5km. i did 5km for the a race for life and it took me 52 mins! ha ha!

  3. Well 5km is just about 3 miles give or take and 3 Miles Per Hour is considered an average walking pace while 4 MPH is a fast walking pace. If you cover the distance in 33 minutes, it may not be world record time but it isn't a bad time. If you really want to lose the weight and improve your physical condition watch your diet and gradually increase your distance to 10km per day.

  4. Your time sounds OK but I doubt it's doing you much good. Unless you want problems with your leg joints, caused by the jarring as you run, you should try swimming or cycling instead.

  5. I did it today in 9 minutes, almost effortlessly on my bus.
