  1. look, anything can be suitable for a video blog, even your camera phone.

youtube screens at a resolution of 320 x 240. most handy cams will be 720 x 480 so that's more than enough.

cam phones are up to 640 x 480 but generally are few and far between.

you might want to consider a cam that you can us for more than just youtube. main thing to consider is getting a mini dv tape system. hdd and disc suck. the res is bad and it's not worth it.

you might want to consider something that has a separate mic input so you can buy and external mic so the sound is much better. remember, people except grainy images but when sound is bad they'll switch off.

apart from that shop around and see whats suitable for you.

    good luck and enjoy blogging.

  2. If it's only for youtube, anything will do. I have an old Samsung analog camcorder and it gives a beautiful picture on a small screen. (Analog has to be converted to digital to use on a computer).

It's worth getting a better camera though, as you might want to keep your recordings then use the footage for more serious purposes later on.

Any of the mini-dv cameras available these days should be more than adequate. I especially like the Canon TX1. It's tiny, it's really a still camera, it's not mini-dv, but it's effective!
