  1. Its like an automotive map except it shows depth of water, obstructions, speed limitations, traffic channels, and landmarks for determining your location.

These are nautical charts, just with a scale that gives a lot of information that boats might need to navigate in the close confines of the harbor.  If you have never docked in the harbor it's a great help, but they are often years out of date, so local knowledge is important.  Call the marina or harbor master for up to date instructions.  Good Luck.  P.S. go to Maptech.com for free downloads of charts.  All of U.S. plus.
