Doggie 91, other than the 1000 tanks, that sounds pretty good. This makes Russia's objections to SDI, recently, make sense.

  1. US literally has no influence at all, so what can US do. Bush has no influence in Europe rather he is completely isolated, thanks to his own policies. Cease fire was brokered by EU, mainly France.

Keep in mind Georgia was backed by US, Georgia never would've dared provoke Russia without the backing of US. It is US & Israel that are training and supplying Georgia with weapons.

The conflict between Russia and Georgia is part of a bigger picture, a lot going on behind the scenes. US is trying to encircle Russia and its interests, and trying to increase its influence. Russia is making sure US stays out and protecting its own interests.

This current war, OIL, strategic control/Influence, Iran, Economic etc are some of the pieces of this picture. The message from Russia was clear  that Russia is serious, and will do anything to protect its own interests.

  2. Georgia keeps pulling on my ring. (I guess we could all sing that.)

  3. hands off.

  4. Stay the h**l out of it.  The Russians did not invade Georgia. They moved into Southern Ossetia to protect people who want to leave Georgia and be annexed by Russia.  What would you expect Russia to do?

  5. Uncle Sam would say "We are even now ! I got Kosovo carved out of Serbia and you have beaten up Georgia. See you in next game."

  6. The Ukraine is a larger country with a larger military. Arm them to the teeth and make a very bold statement. Install warheads, patriot missiles, star wars and park 1000+ of our tanks on the Russian border. Military exercises should be carried on a regular basis.

Tell Moscow that when they have made appropriate war reporations with Georgia and withdraw most of their navy from the Black Sea we will stand down.

  7. USA is doing what they can. Really those Russians are anoying they could start a WWIII without problem !

  8. Join the EU, UN and NATO in putting pressure on Russia to withdraw and respect Georgia's sovereignty. If Russia continues to show aggression by deposing the Georgian government or attacking another country (like the Ukraine), then NATO would be justified in military intervention.

If Russia continues on an aggressive path, but we are not ready to invade the region, I think it would be a good idea for NATO and the EU to mobilize troops and place them in areas of strategic defense and points of possible invasion. This would show Russia that the West mean business and they should back off. Nothing sends a message like a couple brigades of M1 Abrams tanks at the boarder and a couple Nimitz Class Aircraft Carriers in the region.

If NATO got involved in this in a military fashion, we would defiantly see a US withdrawal from Iraq much sooner.

  9. I don't think the US can give a proper response considering how involved they are with Georgia it would be deemed bias.

The only way to respond is through the EU. Russia are a security council member of the UN so this route would be pointless.

I don't think anything can be done just let it blow over perhaps, individuals will go through the courts of human rights for claims but overall nothing will be done :)

  10. nothin..

    and their presedint laughin....again
