What would be a reasonable salary to ask for as a cashier at Petsmart?

I've had two prior jobs to this (sales associate at DSW and hostess at Marie Callender's), but the manager told me that I could choose my hourly wage...I was curious as to what the hourly wage usually is for a cashier/cross-trainer at Petsmart.

  1. By the time I quit from there, I was getting $10/hr, but I had way more experience than most people when it comes to animals, so they really valued my knowledge. Not only that, but I was running the Pet Care department as a lead when they really were supposed to have a manager.

But after working there for three years and seeing how little their care for their animals and how poorly they train their employees, you couldn't pay me enough to work there again. If you're a animal-lover at all, you'll see what I mean more and more the longer you work there.

  2. I would say a little more than the minimum wage where you are located.

  3. i think bout $10 is reasonable.

And dont worry about what these people say about the animals. mostly alot of the petsotres are good. And Peta isnt so nice to animals as every one thinks they are.

So its your descion if you want to work there. Dont let anyone here stop you. And Good Luck.

  4. i would think just a little above min. wage

  5. it really depends on where you live.. i would ask for 8 or 850  any thing more for a start pay is pushing it...

  6. Don't work at PetSmart, work at Pet Supplies "Plus".

  7. dont even THINK of working there go to : www.petsmartcruelty.com

    its really cruel

  8. Who cares?

I would tell your manager somewhere between 8, 9, 10 bucks pr hour.
