Question:

What would be a suitable gift for someone who found your lost dog?

One of our neighbors found our dog after he had gotten out from our fenced in yard this morning - and after my husband and I had no luck trying to find him. Our neighbors are older, they have grandchildren in elementary school, and they have two small dogs of their own. I would love to give them something other than a card, flowers or a tin of popcorn to express our gratitude. Any ideas?

  1. All these answers so far are great

But how about inviting them to your house for dinner and the evening

Much more personal with a lot of thought

You could even give a little "favour" at their table setting. Something you know that they would appreciate. IDK gardening gloves if they love gardening. Silks if they like embroidery or a small perfume and after shave etc

Good luck with whatever you decide and congrats on getting your baby back

  2. I would say a hand made thank you card. It shows you cared enough to take the time to thank them.

  3. My suggestion would be to make them a sort of baked good or maybe dinner for two. Or you could send them a Pets Store gift card to spend on their own two dogs.

  4. Maybe a gift card to a store like Petsmart or Petco for their dogs?  Or possibly a certificate to a fancy restaurant or something

  5. A nice cake or pie. Or a nice dinner for them, Or you could take them out to a restaurant! Or money, But thats not very personal.

  6. You could give them a gift certificate to a local grocery store or local pet supply store. They could buy their pets a gift of some kind. It would be cute if you put he gift card signed from your pet to their pet saying thank you for helping me when I got lost. I think that would be adorable.

  7. Give them a gift certificate to a local restaurant.

Give them a gas card.......$10 or more.........Speaks for itself!

Ask what kind of pie they like and go grab one from the local bakery or make one from scratch or get a gift cert from the bakery.

  8. buy a bottle of smirnoffor a pack a beer for the husband and flowers for the lovely wife with a thank you card and or invite them to dinner.

  9. Flowers and a tin of dog treats :D that would be a great gift.

  10. a toy or bisquits for their dogs. or a gift certificate to a local restaurant.

  11. dog biscuits

    stuff for their grand kids

    money

    toys for their dogs

    dinner?

hope i helped srry I'm not very imaginative

  12. Definitive a Thank you card and a gift card from your local SuperMarket.  That is always welcome among elderly

  13. I'd get a dog treat creating kit, with some inexpenisve flowers and a card (all in one!). The kits can be good for the dogs, inexpensive, and fun for the neighbors to create! The rest is just a nice touch =)

  14. I gave my dog's "Foster "mom"  a basket of goods for her 2 Boxers and a small  nick knack to keep on her bookcase or in her curio.  Went to Petco & include special cookie treats .  The cellophane bags with the paw prints made a nice touch.

    Other suggestions:

Halloween Costumes,( for their dogs of course ).

    Sweaters, winter apparel.

In addition you may want to: Offer to take their barrels & recycleable  bins in for them,

Do some yard work, offer to take their dogs to a doggy park with your dog,  walk their dog.

    Offer to go grocery shopping,

rides  to Dr. appointments if they no longer drive,

season ticket lottery ticket because they may not accept cash.

Homemade baked goods & gift certificates for a local restaurant or a Pet Store for their dogs with some of the above suggestions would show you and your husband's appreciation.

Being reunited with " your family members" is

    priceless.

Really nice to know that their are such wonderful caring people around;  meaning both your neighbors and your family.

  15. get them a game system their grandchildren dont have...

anything but playstation is my suggestion.

  16. How about a gift card, or a a nice dinner at your house.

  17. Make home-made doggie treats.  I did this, and then went to wal-mart and got a plastic container, and in their craft section, near the scrap-book area, there were reallllly cute stickers for dogs.  It's the "ingredients for the perfect dog", and i thought it fit perfectly for a dog-treat container.  If they have little dogs, make them a jar full of little doggie snacks.  Their dogs will love it, and you can slip a little note of what the treats are made out of, and how u made them in case they want to make more later on.

When I moved out of state, I made one of these for each of the vets I used to work for.  Now I'm at a new clinic, and will definitely make more of these for the vets I work for now.  :)

  18. Thank you card and a gift card to Target'. Target' has everything!

  19. maybe give them some money but not too much well it basically matters how much you love that dog a lot more money, only a little less money,  hate the dog a thank you

  20. Neighbors do that for one another, but if you want to give them something nice give them a gift certificate to go somewhere nice.  After you do I wouldn't be suprised if they go take your dog the next time to get more stuff!LOL just kidding.  Good idea! OH, just had another idea, their r companies that send fruit flowers that you can eat. They have strawberries and chocoloate .  Try that!

  21. Try giving them a thank-you card and invite the family to dinner or something.

  22. DEPENDING ON RATHER IT WAS A FULL BREED OR MUTT. BASICALLY ALL PETS HAVE SENTIMENTAL VALUE. HOWEVER A FULL BREED WOULD HAVE GREAT VALUE ON THE BLACK MARKET. THEREFORE YOU SHOULD SHOW YOUR APPRECIATION AND 'ACKNOWLEDGE' HIS/HER TRUE VALUE. SO I WOULD SAY 15% OF HIS/HER MARKET VALUE.

AS FOR A MUTT, HE/SHE IS BASICALLY WORTHLESS IN THE BLACK MARKET BUT MEANS THE WORLD TO YOU. SO I WOULD HAVE TO SAY MAYBE ENOUGH FOR A DINNER FOR TWO.

  23. How about a gift card for a local restaurant?  they might would like a nice evening out.

  24. Give them a Big doggie basket. If you cant afford that then make a card that has dogs on it and put a little god treat in it. then bake cookies or something for the other family members. It would be very thoughtful

  25. Money is good :D Maybe some nice chocolates, wine, souvenier, card, anything :S

  26. Your dog ;)

If I were you, I would give them a bottle of wine and a bunch of flowers. But if you don't want to give them a bunch of flowers, you can replace it with a book.

  27. How about a giftcard to a restaurant? Also, some treats for their dogs.

  28. id want money but those are all nice ideas.  cheap, friendly, typical, a nice gesture to say thanks.

maybe give them a cute dog tag or some kind of toy or something for their dogs.

  29. a gift card for a nice restaurant.  Older people do not need "stuff", but they do enjoy going out to eat.

  30. I would suggest a thank you note with a gift card to a nice restaurant.  If you have children also have them right notes thanking then for returning your dog

  31. i have rescued many dogs and have nvere recived anything not even a thank you, so just give them something if at any thing a small gift would be nice
