Question:

What would be acceptable to wear at my McDonald's orientation?

I had my interview yesterday and wore khakis and a button down shirt. Today we are going to be doing paper work and uniforms and getting used to the place from 4-6 and I had planned to wear a white polo with dark blue jeans. I know that you're not supposed to wear jeans, but I was wondering if it would be okay with a dark wash and a nice shirt to be a bit casual but still look nice.

thanks!

  1. Definitely wear slacks not jeans, it sends a more professional message.  You want them to respect you and know that you are serious about the job.

  2. Nice Jeans was the first thing that popped into my head.  This is an orientation so you will be walking around in the work area and doing a lot of paperwork.  Jeans will be acceptable.  You'll look great!  (BTW, it's nice to see someone who is thinking about their appearance even after getting a job - many wouldn't give it a second thought once they've secured it). Also, I worked at McDonald's all through my high school years, you really learn to work as a team and it was always a job I look back on where I learned a lot working with people.

  3. It is a McJob....it does not matter...why would eeven care?

McDorkalds is a bunch a burnouts anyway...

  4. If you are not supposed to wear jeans, what part of NO JEANS confuses you?

Does "not supposed to" mean "unelss you want to"?

If company policy says "no jeans" and you show up on your FIRST DAY with jeans, I would send you HOME TO CHANGE (and hope you didn't return.)

Company policy applies to YOU and from the first day to the last day.

Wear dark blue SLACKS. (GO TO GOODWILL.)

  5. What is wrong with some of you people who answer questions?

You should wear khakis and a polo shirt, tucked in, and with everything fitting correctly.  Good luck and congradulations on getting a job in this tough economy!

  6. Stick with the slacks. No jeans what so ever. They are liable to send you home to change... you wouldn't want that.

  7. Wow. All this for McDonald's?

  8. a nice jean skirt blouse and boots

  9. It's not like MacDonald's is a law firm or you're representing the President. I'm sure that what you suggest will be fine.

If you want to go all out, dye your hair blonde (your "avatar" suggests that it is brown); then put gel into it, shaping it into two arches.

If they don't like it, crack their arms. They deserve a break...
