Question:

What would be an appropriate birthday party for a one year old?

She is turning one year old. She doesn’t really “like” anything yet, but she is aware of her surroundings. I want it to be something that she would enjoy. Any suggestions?

  1. I took my little girl to the zoo and she loved it.  We went to the park afterwards and had cake and icecream or just whatever.

  2. All I did for my son's 1st birthday was have the family over for a nice home cooked meal and we ate cake and ice cream.  My son got the biggest piece of cake and dove right in!  That was the highlight of the whole party :]

  3. I agree, just the fam and close friends & a cake to let her dig into, it's all for the pics anyway!  oh maybe some balloons in the background :D

  4. try birthday express, they have pretty reasonable prices and the theme are excellent. I did the 1st birthday prince theme and loved it. they have a female version. so that might be cute.

  5. I just had a party at home with all of the friends.  She got to eat rubbish and cake which doesn't happen very often so thoroughly enjoyed herself.  She also loved the birthday banners and balloons that we put up.

  6. why does it have to have a "theme"?  just have cake, icecream, and anyone you want there.  Make a little cake just for her, and let her dig in.

  7. It doesn't matter; she won't remember it!  Just have cake and ice cream and invite family only for this special one.

  8. with my daughter i had a bigger family party (i have a large family) and she was overwhelmed and unhappy-she was stuck to my side the whole party and wouldn't go to anyone else.  with my son I did a smaller family party and he had fun and ran around playing.  I recommend small and intimate!

  9. It really is for the adults. She will have fun no matter what you do. Most baby's like to put their hands in the cake so make an extra.

  10. I would just invite family and close friends. As for decorations some bright colored balloons and streamers. or a "1st Birthday" design.I am using a cupcake theme for my little girls 1st next month. Try this site they have great stuff.

Thats the theme I am doing. Also I think some stores like walmart or winn dixie will give you a free birthday cake for baby when you purchase a regular one.  That is if you dont want to make one yourself.

Oh and dont forget to charge the camera

  11. Cake and Ice cream(very little).  Keep the attendance small.  Not too stimulating.   Some happy little songs she likes to hear, balloons that are not latex, Happy Birthday sung to her, take pictures for yourself and her when she gets older.  Have someone take a home video so you don't miss special moments.  So little is needed when you have a beautiful one year old.  Try to keep to her schedule(if she has one). Save for bigger parties when she is older :)  (I have 3 girls 7,10,15)

  12. Do a farm theme birthday.
