What would be an appropriate holiday gift/bonus for a preschool teacher and two assistants?

My child attends the preschool part of a preschool/daycare center for 3 half days a week (4 hrs/day). There have been several assistants throughout the time since we started (Sept.) but one main teacher and lately two part time assistants who have seemed to become regulars. I live in NJ in a fairly well off area and I would like to give these teachers something but have no idea what would be appropriate. If cash/gift card is the answer - what would be the appropriate amount? Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

  1. Gift cards are so impersonal. I would say get a bathset from bath and body works. I was a preschool teacher and I loved that sort of thing. Also when you get a gift card you don't know where the teacher does most of her shopping. You might get her a gift card for somewhere she doesn't shop.

  2. My wife is a preschool teacher and she just brought home her Christmas gifts yesterday.  She received a gift card(to Macy's for $30).  A restaurant gift card(her choice of 4 places for $20).  A coffee shop gift card for $10.  She receieved Christmas ornaments.  One child gave her a matching notebook and a clipboard.  She received a picture frame.  Some of the kids gave her candy or popcorn.  So the gifts were all over the map as far as $$.  I like the gift card personally.  The restaurant card and the Macy's card were nice.  Then the teacher can get what they want.

  3. I have been a preschool teacher for years. i have really liked it when the kids and parents make gifts for me, like cookies, breads, jams,etc....Parents have given me spa certificates, yoga certificates and gifts cards to department stores.

    hope this helps!

  4. fruit baskets or candy baskets

  5. I would give a Visa (or Mastercard or American Express) Gift card so that they can use them anywhere.  I would say about $35 dollars a piece.

  6. I am a preschool teacher and gift cards are the most common gift I receive.  My favorite are the ones to Barnes & Noble!  I have also received jewelry, candy, and bath sets.  Pretty much anything that shows your appreciation is valued by the teacher!

  7. $50.00 gift card for the teacher and $25.00 each for the assistants.

  8. $25 for the teacher, $10 for the assistants. And have your son help decorate the little gift card envelopes; be sure he writes out "thank you" or "merry christmas" or something:-)

oh you might also have him decorate an ornament for each of the teachers... personal gifts are heart-warming
