  1. Definitely a mountain board company, in my opinion.  The end product is less expensive (in general) and as a result the capital required to design and manufacture the product will be lower.   As for the capital required to start a company - that depends on how you intend to start.  It doesn't take a lot to pump boards out of your basement - that is how some others have started.

  2. Why would anyone who knows anything about business (and I'm hoping you do if you want to run a company) want to jump into a flooded, established market where competition is so high?  Do you have technology that no one else has?  If not you can put that dream to rest and stop wasting your time.  The great companies have most of the money and power and are well respected and established.  Small upstarts fail because it seems like everyone is making snowboards these days and snowboarding tends to be very trendy.  Trendy people will not ride on some small no-name companies product - there is already hundreds of them out there.  I hate to sound so negative but my friend this is reality.  If you can't separate yourself from the rest than ANY business is going to fail.  Just so you know every rider wants to own his or her own company - it's a shredder's dream.

  3. If you are not willing to do your own market reseach then let me save you some time and just tell you that you will fail.
