  1. computer science is a natural.

  2. As some of the previous answers have noted Electrical Engineering is a great degee to complete on its own.

Depending on your interests there are many different paths to follow:

management may give you good opportunities when you develop further in your career (if you wish to climb the ladder rather than specialise in being a technical 'expert).

Language can assist if you wish to work overseas (I know someone who did french, and this has enabled them to transfer their knowledge effectively to another country).

Computers science can be excellent, especially if you have an interest in programming (but once your employed, especially if you are in a smaller company you'll end up as the unoffical 'help desk'!)

Telecommunication is a growing area that is very specialised (which is great as it means jobs are easier to get and pay more).  This can help with everything from High voltage, through to defence type works, to industry.

Another engineering type (mechnical or civil I think would be particularly relevant, as most application involve structures, which then require footings), can also assist but will make it a very heavy degree.   Even electronic, mechatronic or others can assist.

For something to seperate you from everyone else, occupational health and safety may be an option, it would be unusual, but a requirement, and would be quite helpful if you were in a smaller company.

Manufacturing, chemical, environmental can all lead into specialised areas as well.

Any new course would also be useful, nanotechnolocy, mechatronics, robotics (so you have your well established major, but the ability to go into something new).

I would recommend you look into what coursees are offered in your own degree, these days engineering tends to offer a broad range of subjects so look for areas that are not covered.  I would highly recommend looking for chances to do at least introductory courses on mechanical and civil (I found these the most useful), telecommunication I wished i'd paid attention to.

Items like management may be available after you graduate through your employer (I have done several courses, including a full diploma through my employer after leaving).

In summary, have a think what you would like to do, and where the jobs may be when you have graduated (if you are planning to stay in your current area, have a look at the industries, are manufacturers starting up or closing down, is there lots of new specialised industries and will a major help get into one of those (industries like defence, High Votlage, research all have different preferences for double degrees), if you are planning to move away, look towards where you may want to live, whats happening, is the ecconomy stable to support manufacturing (if not, consider the more stable jobs like high voltage (always electricity), mining (a huge growth industry all over the world), defence research).  Also look at the pay you want, for very high pay, consider mining (but be prepared to work in a remote community, for long hours).  All these thoughts may help you make a decision that is best for you.

Good Luck.  Electrical Engineering is one of the best decision you are likely to make.  the course is hard, but since graduating i've not regretted my choice!

  3. They told my class that if you double major you are likely to make less money because most things make less than an electrical engineer.

I would say more physics and math to better understand what you are building or designing.  Particularly physics related to electronics.

  4. How about choosing a social life as your second major.  Trust me... it is worth it... even if you have to shoot for B's instead.  I did it and got straight A's.

EE ain't easy.  You will need some relief.

  5. Insomnia.  Although an MBA would be beneficial down the road.
