What would be better for me? Army - Infantry or Indirect fire Infantry?

I really want a combat role, dont know the difference really of the infantry and indirect fire infantry. i know what indirect fire means, but are you still in the middle of combat? or are you very far back and shoot at different cordinates without actually seeing the combat?

No one on here will be able to tell you which will be better for YOU. Both have there advantages. If you decide to join you will get an 11X contract. Once you get to basic training they will decide which one you'll be. Either 11B infantryman or 11C indirect fire infantryman. Good luck and have fun.

You really don't have a choice. You'll enlist as an 11x. Once in OSUT, they will decide for you if you're better suited for 11B or 11C.

11C's do not do patrols like 11b's do.  They are on outposts and what not, but their job is to man the mortar tubes..They don't go outside the wire very often.
