Hi, I would like this question answered by a local (preferably single male).

I am thinking of a job over there and would like to know the typical house rent and any other typicals you can think of. And in general how are the people there and the culture there. I've never been there, so would like to know as many things as possible.

  1. I have heard rent being anywhere from 600 to as high as you want it to be for a single, near campus you may be able to find some on the cheaper side or if you find roommates. Boulder gets a bad rap for the partying at CU and hippies and what not, but I feel it is a nice town, nice people, very scenic being by the mountains and close to skiing resorts. Pretty lively, young town, especially near campus.

  2. I have only visited Boulder but it is in line with the rest of the country.  The best way to see this is by checking the Consumer Price Index (CPI).  It is a government index that compares the average goods in different parts of the country.

Boulder is about 3.5% more expensive then the national average.
