My son's last day of school is Thursday. I'd really like to surprise him with a school's out party and invite some of his buddies. I need some fun ideas, such as cupcakes to bake, games to play. We are planning it to be outside and to include lots of water play. Thanks:)

  1. I don't know how old your son is but from what you said he sounds young.  Here are some ideas boys LOVE:

    1. water balloons and squirt gun fights (you can buy squirt guns from Oriental Trading Co. for a few bucks)

    2.  Buy a cheap plastic toddler swimming pool  and fill it with several cans (the big ones you get at Smart and Final) of chocolate pudding, then make a relay game where they have to walk through the pudding.  It sounds disgusting but I saw this at a party my nephew went to and the kids went insane.

    3. Pinatas

    4. Bounce house (they have some that are good for older kids too)

  2. Go to ur local park for a little and have a little cook out.

Bring water balloons and water guns. depends on what the boys like most i recomend water guns.

    the super soak one.

They're pretty cheap in a set so not much money to spend.

    make BBQ hotdogs, hamburgers.

    ETC.

If some buddies are girls have them assist on making cupcakes.

    :)

hope this would be an ahmazing schools out party.

EDIt: haha many of these ideas seem alike.

    so ill addd an idea,

Add a field day , Tug o war softball

have a bucket of water and an emptyone at the other end have a cup of a sponge handy and You'd dip the sponge in the water and go in an over and under routine there willl be two teams and the most a team has wins.

have sunblock on and plenty of drinks

    it could get pretty hot.

Include a 5 gallon mini pool and have them bob for apples

have alot of balloons after that u can include silly string for a bit fun.

if they're old enough have scooters and have them play something like the amazing race put clues all over and have them get them and have the team that wins get a prize

id insist on goodie bags and lotsa candy

  3. Beach

  4. You can do relay races of potato sack races, three legged races, etc.

    Water balloon fights

Set up a volleyball net for them to play volleyball and badmitten.

Get an inflatable kiddie pool and fill it with water and have the kids break into 2 teams and have a tug of war, the losing team ends up in the water.

You can do an ice cream bar.  Get chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream and some toppings.  Sprinkles, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and cherries and let them make their own sundaes. You can get the waffle cone bowls at the grocery store.

You can do a bbq with hamburgers and hot dogs with toppings for both and some sides.

You can do a watermelon eating contest or a pie eating contest, but instead of pie you can fill the pie tins with whipped cream, so the kids don't choke, the first one to finish, wins!

I hope some of these ideas help and that you have a great party!

  5. Have a good stock of water balloons, water guns.     Also have plenty of water available.   Buy a couple of the smaller  plastic kiddie pools and fill with water.      How about renting an inflatable jumper from a party rental company.   There are also larger slides that are inflatable that also use water--like a giant water slide.    Most companies will come to your home and set up the inflatables and tear them down afterwards.

I would serve something simple like grilled hot dogs w/ all the toppings; chips; rent a sno-cone machine (the party rental company will have); a cotton candy machine.    Have plenty of drinks available.     I also tend to serve fresh fruit which is always a big hit with my kids and their friends (age 6, 10).    I tend to go with fresh pineapple; strawberries; watermelon, honeydew and cantaloupe balls; grapes.    I thread onto skewers so they can just grab them and eat them instead of having to get a plate.

Sundae bar.    Vanilla & Chocolate ice cream.   Flavored syrups, nuts, sprinkes, waffle cones & bowls.   Let the kids make their own sundaes.

Frosted sugar cookies or regular old chocolate chip cookies might be more of a hit than cupcakes.     I have found that a lot of kids don't really like cake.   I always have it for birthdays, but I end up throwing away plates and plates of cake.     Also, a cupcake is harder to eat than a cookie.

    Have fun!

  6. Schools out summers here, which means all various activities will take place but SWIMMING! Have a pool party after all its summer and thats what they are looking forward to! Also serve gazpacho soup. It is great for an end of year party and delicous and healthy to!
