  1. How about green bean casserole?  That is a huge hit at my house, but corn on the cob would be good too.

  2. i think you should have green beans and corn but i wouldn't go with potatoes and gravy i would go with chips/frys it really depends on how posh these people are because BBQ ribs are more casual food so are frys/chips.

  3. You could do baked instead of mashed (less work for you), and have sour cream, fresh chives, stuff like that.  You could also do corn if you want, even corn on the cob.  And you can always throw a cesar salad together, too.  Good luck and enjoy!

  4. This dish complements anything BBQ flavored and it's real easy to make.

    Overnight Hashed Brown Potato Casserole

    Ingredients:

    (8 servings)

2 lb Frozen hashed brown potatoes

    1/4 lb Butter

    1 pt Sour cream

    1 can Mushroom soup

    8 oz Cheddar cheese; shredded

1 Onion; grated or 1 T. instant minced onion

    3/4 c Milk* (optional)

    Instructions:

Cut butter into potatoes. Mix rest of ingredients together; pour over top of potatoes. Toss. *1/4 - 3/4 c. milk can be used in place of one-half of the sour cream. It will make a moister casserole, if desired. Bake in a 13x9" pan at 350 for 1/2 hr covered and an additional 1/2 hr. uncovered. I have used Cheddar Cheese soup, but reduce the butter as it will be greasy with both. I also put additional shredded cheese on top during the second half hour of baking. Doubles well. Can be refrigerated overnight after mixing all together.

How about this for a vegetable.

    Super Broccoli Casserole

1 cup grated cheddar, jack, or mozzarella cheese

    1 cup cracker crumbs

    ¼ cup butter

Combine first 6 ingredients; add to buttered 9x11 casserole dish. Sprinkle with cracker crumbs and dot with butter. Bake at 350F for 1 hour.

  5. mashed potatoes and corn goes well together

  6. bbq ribs in a restaurant have other things with a typical meal. Such as coleslaw, baked beans, cornbread, potato- could be garlic or whatever but keep in mind you have BBQ sauce that will overpower that flavor.

Corn - if its kernal corn, mix a little pimento(chopped up roasted red pepper) for a change in flavor. instead of corn bread biquits might be good.

  8. sounds good!!

corn and add a nice tossed green salad, have 2 or 3 salad dressings to offer if possible.and dinner rolls or biscuits.iced tea or lemonade and for dessert watermelon or lemon pie.have fun!

  9. Green beans .... Corn is a STARCH, not considered a veggie for nutritional needs.  Besides, the corn and mashed potatoes are the same color, and the plate wouldn't look good......

  10. ribs are good with mac and cheese, peas,

or rice like broccoli augraten rice

but with the potatoes i say go over corn it be cheap and it goes better

  11. I think corn would be a more natural pairing with the barbecue ribs, plus it will be more filling than the green beans. However, beans are healthier and  lighter in calories.
