  2. Neither.

I use a hand blender, you can pick them up quite cheap now.

They are better because you just make the soup, and when it is cool just blend it in the pan you cooked it in.

    It couldnt be easier.

  3.   be very careful when adding any hot liquid to a blender (the steam builds up inside like a pressure cooker and will explode if not properly vented)how ever it does do beautiful soup adding a smoother texture than either a hand blender or a food processor can. and with the different settings you can get the texture you desire

  4. Blender

  5. Neither.  All you need is a big pot.  Start of by sauteing onions and celery and let that be your base.  From there you can either add beef beef broth and veggies, chicken and veggies, just veggies, etc..  Get yourself a few containers of chicken, beef and vegetable broth, rice, barley and pasta and you're good to go!

  6. As far as blending. Soup doesn't have to be smooth to be considered a soup.

Either would work. The hand blenders work okay but I prefer a stand blender to that and for soups, I prefer the food processor

  7. definately the hand blender.  Then you don't have the added danger of pouring hot soup into a processor, especially as when the chunky pieces fall, in they splash.  No extra dishes either as you keep it in the same pan you cooked in.  But whatever you do, do not lift the hand blender up out of the liquid while going or it will spray everywhere!

  8. I use an immersion (stick or hand) blender, too. Less clean up, less fuss. If you don't want to get one, I'd go with a blender. Unless you have a big food processor, pureeing a pot of soup will be tedious and messy. Food processors really are more worthwhile for chopping and grating solid foods; blenders are for liquids and liquifying.

  9. I'd go with a food processor.
