I own a small provincial restaurant and am planning to change our menus. What would be your favourite starter and main course?

Our restaurant is modern English/French style

  1. Well, I am a vegetarian, and there are many other people who are also,  so please make sure you have at least one dish that is vegetarian.

  2. starter,,

mushroom caps, stuffed with crab meat.

    lamb chops

smoked salmon( specialty item, 1 night a week)

    grilled salmon

    10 - 12 ounce rib eye steak

  3. what you like and how you like it. most restaurants provide a selection of food but usually you have to have it the way they make it. if i wanted chocolate covered chips and your restaurant would make it, i would go there.

  4. Chips with extra chips followed by chips

  5. I have just opened a new restaurant in the North of England and we are doing really well. Booked up at the weekend for the next month and also pulling in 30-40 every night during the week. I can't put my menu choices on here but if you go to www.number8restaurant.co.uk you will find our menus there. Mostly British food, all seasonal etc. Hope it helps

  6. Pumpkin or butternut squash soup

fresh fish - grilled or baked with lots of herbs and saute'd potatoes and steamed veggies.... hmmmmm

    good, old-fashioned cheesecake

  7. HEALTHY food.

  9. Deep Fried Bree Wedges With Garlic Mayo

    Liver and Bacon With Mash....

    Eton Mess For Dessert

    Yummmy

  10. A good starter is usually

    SOUP OF THE DAY or

    A SALAD or

    PRAWN COCKTAIL.

A Good Main Course could be.

    FISH & CHIPS

    MEAT & 2 VEG

    SPAGHETTI BOLOGNAISE or LASAGNE

MACORRONNI CHEESE or OTHER PASTA DISH

  11. When I go out I like to have pastas... have a cream based and a tomato based pasta on your menu.

For entree, I like garlic bread and bruschetta, but of course that's more Italian... perhaps a light soup or something potato-based or cheesy.

Something that's delicious are sweet potato chips - you slice them thinly with a peeler and fry them.

Chips made from carrots are also nice.

  12. What about a really retro menu - simple but fabulous?

    Starter: Potted shrimps/egg mayonnaise

Main course:Lamb cutlets/Dover sole/lobster/duck, with roast and mashed potatoes available. And something like mushrooms in filo pastry for vegetarians.

    Pudding: Rich chocolate mousse

    Also: Cheeseboard

  13. I no longer eat out, but like good cooking, in particular fish.

As a starter, probably scallops or escargots (typo?).

    Main course - Lobster.

My favourite restaurant is in Birmingham, UK, in the city centre called The Crows Nest - well worth a visit for seafood.

The seafood salad is about £30, but exceptional.
