What would be the 250 word cap?

I am writing and application letter and it asks that I do not use more that 250 words. Without the the addresses (mine and theirs), the word count totals 244. With it however, it goes above the 250 word limit. Do the addresses really count as part of the letter? Or is it just the body of the letter plus the 'dear' and 'from'?

  1. Generally speaking, it would only include the body of the letter.  Think about when you were in school and had to write an essay of a certain number of words.  The teacher didn't really believe that you were counting your first name, last name, date, etc. right?  This is the same way.
