  1. I agree with the Seasons of Love audition. It has the most parts with the most range. It also is one of the most recognizable songs. Take into account though, that because of its prominence, quite a few others may be doing the same song.

From hearing it being auditioned though, people tend to sound pretty good singing it because there is such a variety of parts.

  2. It would definitely depend on your vocal range, and which song would be more suited for your singing ability. The good thing about the song "Seasons of Love" is that there are men and women who sing it in the musical, all having different ranges, so it is possible to sing a part of that song in your audition, even if your a soprano, a male tenor, a female alto, etc.. Also, everyone knows that song, making it easier for the piano player to play it well for you cold, on your audition. Good luck!

  3. Unless they specifically ask for a song from RENT you should do one from a somewhat similar musical. If you want the part of Mimi you should do something like, "I'm not that girl," from Wicked.

If you are going for Joann try something from Tommy or Legally Blonde, the Musical. If you are going for Maureen, you could take a chance and do her performance art piece or revert "Popular" from Wicked into a solo.
