  1. for minimizing sway:  now that the weather's getting nice (at least, here in MI), go outside with either 2 regular golf shafts or 2 broom handles, h**l, or one of each.

drive each shaft into the ground a couple of inches off the side of each foot, while in your golf stance.

set up and swing.  if you touch either shaft (or handle) you're swaying.  Viola, in no time you should be rotating like you're supposed to.

for speed:  work your core, and make sure you stretch!  Most of your speed/strength comes from the ab and back muscles, as it relates to golf.

A good excercise is to get in a push-up position, but hold yourself up with your forearms instead.  feel like your bringing your belly button in to your spine.  do about 3 sets at 10-20 seconds each.

you can also rotate your body from that postition 90 degrees, so that you're now reasting on one forearm and the side of one foot.  so the same thing, 3 sets about 10-20 seconds for each side.  make sure the elbow is under the shoulder, so it really works your obliques.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

  2. I don't know of any particular drills or exercises from the golf arena, but good exercises for strengthening your legs include:

    Squats

    Thrusts

    Leg curls

    Leg raises

Running, jogging and walking also will improve your stamina, stability, and strength overall as well as in the lower body.

I'd check menshealth.com for more specific and advanced exercises that can improve your conditioning.
