There are 9 people total mostly adults and two children. I am open for ideas I normally shoot a group of 3 at most.

  1. I don't really have any supergood Ideas. But I will suggest maybe asking a photographer what your best bet would be. They know what they are doing when it comes to that type of thing.

  2. panorama?!

  3. Here is a good link for more than just your situation.

  4. With this large group, I suggest taking the picture in an outdoor setting.  This will provide you with enough natural light to accommodate such a large group and provide some posing props as well.

Make sure to select a setting with large rocks, tree stumps and branches  to give your subjects a place to sit and/or lean against.  You will want to take the pictures on either overcast days or early or late in the day to prevent harsh shadows.  Also make sure the background is far enough away so it doesn't compete with the subjects and should be out of focus (control d/f to insure this).

I also recommend grouping the subjects according to relationships and not crowd them too much into the picture.
