I purchased the Sumo2 Nike driver with a 13* loft. I was using a 12* but decided to purchase this one. Since its a higher degree loft should I position the ball lower??

  1. You would be surprised to find out that the ACTUAL difference in ball trajectory between a 13° and a 12° lofted drive is practically NOTHING.

    I use a 9° lofted driver and often hit my drives higher than some 11° drivers.

    But back to your question;  the HEIGHT of your tee should NOT change based on the loft (degree) of your driver.

    Here's why;

    When hitting driver off tee, typically, you want to hit the ball on the UPSWING of your swing (to help give a forward spin & momentum on the ball).

    For this reason, you tee the ball up "forward" in your stance approximately ½ ball over the top of your driver.  Again, this is because the bottom of your swing arc should be just BEHIND the ball.

    Your driver club face size is the SAME regardless of the loft, so the tee height should NOT change.

    So, the answer is "no".  Use the same tee height.

  2. Tee it like regular.  Otherwise nothing changes and there is no reason to get a new driver.  I'm guessing that you wanted more backspin on your tee shots to help the ball go straighter, or you wanted more carry, in either case higher degree loft driver is the way to go.  In both cases you should keep the ball position the same, if you wanted to put it up higher than it's going to go anyways tee it up higher, but never lower.

  4. Well I would think that you wanted the ball to go higher which is why you bought the higher loft, so tee it the same as you used to.  If you lower the tee height, and everything else stays the same, then you will hit it like you did with the old driver.

  5. great choice ,will improve scores immediatly . you will have to tee the ball lower of course , 1/2 of the ball above the top of the clubhead would be the starting point . easy wat to hit hooks , tee ball higher , to fade tee ball lower . but it dosent matter because you will be in the fairway . sam snead used this loft his entire carrer , missed fairways  less than a handfull .

  6. As a general rule the ball should be teed up to where half of the ball is above the head of the club.
