What would be the best tool to cut up a jacuzzi?

I have a jacuzzi which no longer works, and it would cost $2000 or more to have it removed so I wanted to just cut it up and throw it away. It's probably made of fiberglass. What would the best tool to do that? Also, would it be recyclable or not?

  1. I did this recently.  Used a sawzall and cut it up into quite a few manageable pieces, loaded them in my truck and hauled them off to the dump.  I couldn't find a way to recycle the pieces.  Just a couple of hours and it was gone.

  2. I don't know about the recycle part.  You'd probably have to check your local recycle centers about that.

As far as cutting it up, I'd probably use a chainsaw or maybe a reciprocating saw.  Although I think the chainsaw would work better.

  3. sawzall

  4. We cut em in half with a sawzall, then haul them one half at a time to the dump.

A sawzall will work to cut them into smaller parts too.

I'm not sure that fiberglass is readily recyclable.

  5. A sawzal would work ~ but for cutting fiber glass ~ if you turn your skill saw blade backwards it cut fiber glass really well.  The skill saw is faster than the sawzal (at least the one I own) and I think just as safe.  Good luck and have fun
